ILAGAN CITY, Isabela (PIA) – The provincial government of Isabela and the Jinan County of South Korea have begun screening applicants for a farmers internship program, which will send qualified local farmers abroad to study advanced farming techniques.
This initiative is part of an agreement between the provincial government and Jinan County aimed at enhancing the technical know-how of farmers on modern technologies and to boost agricultural production in Isabela.
The program will provide participants with hands-on experience in modern agricultural methods, while also allowing them to earn to support their families.
On January 23 and 24, over 700 farmers from various municipalities across Isabela attended the screening for the program.
For this year, the PGI and Jinan County are targeting more than 200 farmers from Isabela to be selected as scholars for the internship program.
