CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – Two Local Government Units (LGUs) in Isabela province have bolstered their disaster response capabilities by acquiring new rescue vehicles through the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance – Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF).
DILG Assistant Regional Director Elpidio Durwin commended the commitment of both Reina Mercedes and Delfin Albano to good governance.
He noted that their achievements over the past year reflect their strong leadership.
“Beyond the financial incentive, the prestige and responsibility of providing good governance should surpass any monetary reward for the benefit of their constituents,” he stated.
DILG Isabela Provincial Director Corazon Toribio lauded both LGUs for their competence as SGLG awardees.
She encouraged them to view the SGLG as a benchmark for governance, emphasizing the importance of consistency and continuous improvement.
“The indicators for the SGLG are updated annually by the Council of Good Local Governance, challenging LGUs to adapt and enhance their services,” Toribio added.
Reina Mercedes Municipal Mayor Maria Lourdes P. Respicio-Saguban expressed gratitude to the Technical Working Group of the LGU and DILG for their support in securing the SGLG in 2023.
She highlighted that the new rescue vehicle will enhance their 24-hour emergency services during disasters and expressed optimism for further successes in 2024.
Delfin Albano Mayor Arnold Pua Co noted that their LGU has passed the SGLG for six consecutive years and aims to maintain this achievement in 2024.
He emphasized that investing the incentive fund in a rescue vehicle underscores their commitment to meeting the needs of constituents during emergencies. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
