CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – Some 38 senior citizens in Jones, Isabela have received financial assistance under Republic Act No. 11982, or the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2024, according to the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC).
Manuel Cabungcal Jr., municipal administrator, said 30 seniors aged 80 and 85, and seven others, aged 90 and 95 were granted P10,000 each.
One centenarian, Bienvenida Salvador, received P100,000 from the NCSC, along with an additional P10,000 cash gift from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Jones.
Cabingcal said, in support of the event, the Jones Municipal Health Office provided free medical consultations and distributed free medicines to senior citizens in attendance during the awarding ceremonies.
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office encouraged all senior citizens in Jones to actively participate in NCSC programs to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of benefits.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to both the NCSC and the LGU for the implementation of the Expanded Centenarian Act and for recognizing the contributions of elderly citizens. (MGE/PIA Isabela)
