Job Fairs, Kadiwa ng Pangulo all set in Baguio City on Labor Day

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment-Cordillera Administrative Region in partnership with the Baguio City Public Employment Service Office, government agencies partners and the SM Supermalls are all set for the conduct of job fair on May 1 in line with the 123rd Labor Day celebration.

DOLE-CAR Regional Director Imelda Romanillos, in a kapihan media forum, disclosed that there are two job fairs set in the city, one at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center (BCCC) and the other at SM City Baguio where a total of 5,874 job vacancies will be offered — 2,087 local and 3,787 overseas employment.

She said the numbers may still go higher as there are still employers signifying to join.

“The conduct of this Job fair is in line with the goal of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa ating Bagong Pilipinas, which is to push for poverty alleviation even in the countryside,” Romanillos said.

There will also be a government One-Stop-Shop with booths by the Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Pag-IBIG, Philippine Statistics Authority, PHILHEALTH, Department of Migrant Workers, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Employees’ Compensation Commission, Department of Health, Professional Regulation Commission, Bureau of Immigration, and the National Bureau of Investigation, among others.

Other activities include payout of the TUPAD (Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) for Persons Deprived of Liberty, a convergence program with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and awarding of monthly stipend to Government Internship Program beneficiaries and certificate of eligibility to five associations Romanillos also announced the conduct of a KADIWA ng Pangulo livelihood fair at the Malcolm Square from May 1 to 4.

Government-assisted micro, small and medium enterprises will feature their products such as fresh vegetables and fruits, processed food products and a lot more.

This year’s Labor Day theme is “Ang Manggagawang Pilipino Kaagapay sa Pag-unlad, Sandigan ng mas Matatag na Bagong Pilipinas.” (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
