MATI CITY, Davao Oriental (PIA) – Affordable well-milled rice is now available to Mati City residents at the Kadiwa store in Barangay Central.
City Agriculture Office consultant and Barangay Central Punong Barangay Eric Rabat said that around 6,000 sacks of well-milled rice will be sold at the Kadiwa store, priced at around P33.00 to P35.00 per kilo.
“Nahuman na ang memorandum of agreement with FTI kailanagn yan. Tapos ang bugas naa na sa NFA warehouse,” Rabat shared.
(The memorandum of agreement with FTI has been finalized. Then the rice is in the NFA warehouse.)
Rabat emphasized that the rice is well-milled and comparable in quality to high-grade imported rice. He also noted that it is locally sourced, particularly from Baganga and Cateel, and milled in Banaybanay.
Rabat is optimistic that the affordable rice would greatly benefit Mati City residents, especially in helping ease the food challenges faced by many families.
“Dakong tabang sa katawhan; daghan maka benepisyo aning baratong presyo nga bugas,” he explained.
(This would be a big help to the people in the city; many will benefit from this low-cost rice.)
While the rice is available to all residents, low-income families, persons with disability (PWD), and senior citizens will be prioritized.
Moreover, since the rice is only available in the Kadiwa store in Barangay Central, the City Agriculture Office will be bringing the rice to other areas in the city through the Kadiwa on Wheels. (ASO/PIA Davao Oriental with reports and photos from the City Agriculture Office)
