DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDNRSO) actively participated in the regular Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) event spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist at the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Capitol.

The initiative underscored NIA’s unwavering commitment to empowering local farmers by providing them with sustainable market opportunities.

By directly patronizing their agricultural products, NIA helps ensure that farmers receive fair compensation for their labor while promoting agricultural resilience in the province.

Kadiwa ng Pangulo is a marketing initiative designed to provide consumers with affordable, high-quality goods and commodities while strengthening market access for farmers, fisherfolk, and micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs).

By cutting out middlemen, the program enables farmers and irrigators’ associations to sell their produce directly to consumers, ensuring fair pricing, increased income, and enhanced food security in the community.

Moreover, this initiative aims to not only boost the livelihood of farmers but also foster economic sustainability by keeping local food production strong and competitive.

Additionally, it encourages a farm-to-table culture, reducing post-harvest losses and promoting healthier eating habits.

The revenues generated from KNP allow farmers to reinvest in better farming technologies, improve production quality, and even contribute to community projects, reinforcing a cycle of agricultural and economic growth.

For Joseph Paranguay, a local farmer who supports KNP, the initiative is more than just a marketplace—it is a lifeline for small-scale producers like him.

“Through Kadiwa ng Pangulo, we no longer have to worry about selling our harvest at unfairly low prices. We now have direct access to consumers who value our products, allowing us to earn a just income for our hard work,” he shared.

Expressing his gratitude, Paranguay emphasized the importance of continuous support from government agencies like NIA.

“Programs like this encourage us to keep farming despite the challenges we face. Knowing that there is a reliable avenue where we can sell our crops or products gives us hope and motivation to sustain our livelihood,” he added.

By actively supporting KNP, NIA reinforces its role in fostering inclusive agricultural growth, ensuring that farmers receive the support they need to thrive in an evolving market landscape. (EDT/PJF/CJH-OJT/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
