Kadiwa ng Pangulo seen beneficial for local farmers, small business owners

BAY, Laguna (PIA) – More farmers, fisherfolks, and small business owners express support to the continuing rollout of Kadiwa ng Pangulo in various communities nationwide.

From fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, to local made and ready-to-eat goods, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo has brought residents of Bay, Laguna and nearby towns an opportunity to purchase affordable yet quality products.

Leila Ramos, a resident of Calo, Bay and a member of Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Calo, said the affordable products offered by Kadiwa has helped her to stretch her budget, allowing her to buy more goods for her family.

“Because the prices are affordable, of course, we can extend our budget compared if we buy these from the market which is a bit higher, but here, the prices are lower so we can buy more,” Ramos stated.

For Dollie Iranon, a meat business owner who participated in Kadiwa, the initiative has been beneficial for both sellers and consumers, as many people are purchasing their products.

“The price of pork in the market continues to increase due to the decreasing supply caused by African Swine Fever, so we decided to sell pork at a lower price, almost P40 less than in the market and it has been good because many people are buying,” Iranon said.

Since their involvement in Kadiwa, Iranon has earned more income and expressed her gratitude for the program for giving her a sustainable means to develop their livelihood.

She added: “This initiative is good, even though it’s only for one day so I hope it will soon be extended so that more people can purchase cheaper goods and products.”

The Department of Agriculture (DA) Calabarzon announced that Kadiwa will visit some towns and cities in the five provinces of Calabarzon throughout the month of February and March to offer quality and affordable products directly to consumers.

The public is encouraged to support the program and help local farmers, fisherfolks, and MSMEs to have better income by eliminating intermediaries and directly offer products to consumers. (CO/PIA4A)
