CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kagayhaan Gold marked the 2025 JCI Week with a series of projects aimed at inspiring action and creating change in Cagayan de Oro.

Held from April 6 to 12, the weeklong event brought together young leaders and volunteers for community service and leadership development.

“This is where JCI local organizations across the Philippines come together to celebrate a week of camaraderie and impactful community projects,” said 2025 JCI Week Chair Alyssa Abigail Gabor during Lambo Dyes radio program, April 11.

With the national theme “Build Better Together” and the local theme “Ignite Change, Inspire Action,” JCI Kagayhaan Gold hosted several initiatives, including a tree planting at Malasag, wellness advocacy for children, skills training, creative healing, and a culminating anniversary celebration.

JCI President Grant Amoncio emphasized the organization’s focus on empowering youth. “Our mission is to provide leadership opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. Para sa tanang kabatan-onan nga mas ma-enhance pa ang ilahang leadership skills (For all the youth to further enhance their leadership skills),” Amoncio said.

One of the key activities was “Paws and Hearts,” a wellness advocacy program that used pet care education to promote mental health awareness among Grade 5 students. “We empower kids through pets and wellness,” said co-chair Jeric Go, adding that a portion of the merchandise proceeds supports the Philippine Autism Society.

Another activity was the “Dugo at Kagitingan: Pag-asa Para sa Mga Munting Mandirigma” blood drive, which supported children with leukemia. “Dili lang ni siya makatabang sa laing tao, naa gyapon siyay tabang sa imong health (This doesn’t just help others, it also benefits your health),” said Project chair Ryan Simoy.

The week concluded with a general membership meeting and the chapter’s 37th anniversary celebration, “KGOKE Night: Kanta Mo, Kwento Ko.” (RTP/PIA-10)
