KALAHI-CIDSS hits 100% subproject completion in Northern Mindanao, says RPMC chair

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) – “This project stands out as one of the best-run, with strong community engagement from planning to implementation. When communities are involved, success rates soar,” said Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority-Northern Mindanao and Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) chairperson, on its first quarter 2025 meeting.

The Community-Driven Development (CDD) strategy of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) received high praise after it reported a 100 percent completion rate for subprojects delivered in 2024, along with full fund utilization.

Under KALAHI-CIDSS, the National CDD Additional Financing Group 4 and Call for Proposal completed 86 subprojects. The Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) also delivered 221 sub-projects with a total value of P157 million.

KALAHI-CIDSS collaborates with communities and local government units to implement projects using the CDD approach, which empowers communities to participate in inclusive planning, budgeting, and implementing identified needs.

The RPMC is vital in monitoring and evaluating priority programs and projects across Northern Mindanao.

This year, KALAHI-CIDSS will ensure subprojects remain functional and sustainable by actively engaging stakeholders in operations and maintenance.

Seeing the positive outcomes of the CDD strategy through KALAHI-CIDSS, Dir. Cariño has highlighted the CDD Bill as a priority legislative agenda item to be discussed at the Social Development Committee for its endorsement to the Regional Development Council X. (DSWD-10/PIA 10)
