KALAHI-CIDSS program helps barangays in prioritizing projects thru BDP

NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) — The Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has helped barangays in Biliran province in prioritizing projects to be implemented through the roll-out training-workshop on enhanced Barangay Development Planning (BDP).

This was reported by Gherly Lanzarrote, KALAHI-CIDSS coordinator of Kawayan town, during the DSWD 3rd Information Caravan cum PIA Kapihan on September 6, at Zero Place, Atipolo, Naval, Biliran.

Lanzarrote said the BDP training-workshop was conducted in close coordination with DILG Biliran Provincial Office and the Local Government Academy (LGA).

BDP roll-out was conducted in the municipalities of Kawayan, Naval, Culaba, Almeria, and Cabucgayan, Biliran and Caibiran.

She said that mainstreaming on participatory situational analysis and community driven development approach were incorporated in the formulation and enhancement of BDP during the training-workshop .

“Barangays were taught during the BDP training-workshop on how to prioritize projects to be implemented with inclusive participation,” she emphasized.

BDP, in a DILG report, is a comprehensive multi-sectoral development plan that is formulated through an inclusive and participatory approach led by the Barangay Development Council and approved by the Sangguniang Barangay.

The rationalization of the BDP ensures that its contents directly address the needs of the community and its residents. The primary purpose of planning is to protect public interest and that of every individual who has a stake in the planning process. (MMP/RSV/PIA Biliran)
