Kalayaan job fair serves more than 200 job seekers, 19 hired-on-the-spot in Abra

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – More than 200 job seekers in the province of Abra participated in the Kalayaan 2024 Job Fair where at least 19 applicants were hired on the spot.

 

“I am very excited. Dakkel ti naitulong na kanyami daytoy aglalo ta na hired nak nga sigud,” [This job fair is a big help especially that I was immediately hired] shared 20 year-old Paulo Bolibar.

 

Meanwhile, Alex Ballena from Tayum who was also hired on the spot, is happy with his experience in the job fair.

 

“Happy nak met ma’am ta nakatulong daytoy job fair. Ti other job seekers anus lang nga ag-apply ti trabaho,” he said.

 

[I am happy because this job fair helped. To the other job seekers, just be patient in applying for job.] 

 

The job fair that was conducted as part of the 126th Independence Day celebration provided a venue for job seekers to explore over 1,799 vacancies from 17 partner agencies and offices.

 

In addition to job offers, the event included a government one-stop-shop with the Social Security System, PagIBIG, PhilHealth, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue  offering services for both job seekers and employers.

 

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Abra Field Office Director Christopher Tugadi emphasized the importance of the job fair in linking job seekers with employment opportunities.

 

“Daytoy job fair ket maysa nga employment facilitation strategy nga ipa-meet dagiti employers or recruitment agencies ken job seekers tapno ti kasta ket ma-reduce ti cost, time, and effort da nga mapan agbirok ti trabaho,” he explained.

 

[This job fair is an employment facilitation strategy where employers or recruitment agencies and  job seekers meet  to reduce cost, time, and effort in looking for jobs.]

 

The event held at the BBM Building in Zone 5, Bangued recorded at least 294 registered applicants with  223 qualified applicants or those fit for requirements set by the employers.

 

The Kalayaan 2024 Job Fair that adopted the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” was led by the DOLE Abra Field Office, in partnership with the Office of Congresswoman Menchie Bernos, TESDA, SSS, PhilHealth, PagIBIG, BIR, and Philippine Statistics Authority. (JJPM-PIA CAR, Abra with RJA-GIP)
