CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA)–Kalinga marked the 122nd Labor Day celebration with various activities that honored and uplifted workers.
These include the ceremonial awarding of P1,180,904 to the provincial government under the Department of Labor and Employment Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP); and P988,380 and P362,348 to the local governments of Pasil and Tinglayan, respectively, for the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
The DILP grant benefits 40 ambulant vendors, said DOLE-Kalinga head Avelina Manganip.
Simultaneous payouts were also held for the wages and stipend of 612 workers hired under the TUPAD program and 143 beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program.
A Jobs Fair was also conducted providing a total of 1,005 overseas and local employment opportunities to jobseekers.
On the sidelines, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo organized by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and the Department of Agriculture offered affordable vegetables, grocery items, processed foods, and other products from Benguet farmers and local entrepreneurs.

The celebration was spearheaded by the DOLE-Kalinga in partnership with the provincial government and other line agencies and carried the theme, ‘Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Manggagawang Pilipino, Kabalikat at Kasama sa Pag-asenso’.(IOS-PIA Kalinga)
