Kalinga lights up ‘Christmas Winter Wonderland’

TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) — Residents and visitors gathered for Kalinga’s annual Christmas lighting ceremony on December 12, 2024 as the Provincial Capitol grounds transformed into a festive ‘Christmas Winter Wonderland’ spectacle.

Governor James Edduba welcomed the crowd with a message of inspiration, highlighting the essence of the season.

“The Christmas season reminds us of what truly matters: family, friendship, kindness, and the joy of giving,” Edduba said.

Christmas is also about unity, working together as a community, and giving joy to others, he added. This year’s lighting featured a blue and white winter wonderland theme, captivating spectators with its sparkling displays.

A highlight is big Christmas tree adorned with star lanterns with cascading blue and white lights, topped with a radiant angel-like lantern. The base of the tree is decorated with enchanting setups including statues of Santa Claus, reindeers, and miniature Christmas trees, all framed by white and blue star lanterns.

Artificial snowflakes also added to the winter wonderland vibe, delighting children as they played under the falling “snow”.

The tunnel of lights and illuminated trees also provide perfect backdrops for photos, drawing families and friends of all ages to capture the magic.

To amplify the festive energy, a super carnival adds thrills with popular rides such as the Ferris wheel, super Viking, and log coaster, entertaining not just kids but also kids-at-heart.

People can visit and enjoy the place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every day until January 2025. (RGA-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
