TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) — The Kalinga provincial government was recognized for its “significant contributions to public communication and advocacy at the first-ever ‘Parangal: Gawad ng Kahusayan sa Komunikasyong Pampubliko” at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on December 16, 2024.

The province was nominated for the Public Service Campaign – Provincial Level category for its initiative of ‘delivering information with integrity for Lumin-awa Kalinga’ implemented by the Office of the Provincial Governor–Information and Communication Management System (OPG-ICMS).

OPG-ICMS head Dionica Alyssa Legasi expressed her appreciation for the nomination, saying it motivates them to continue improving their public communication initiatives.

“Despite being a newly established division with limited resources, the OPG-ICMS is honored to have been nominated for the prestigious Public Service Campaign Award. This recognition inspires us to persevere in advancing our public communication initiatives, proving that dedication and creativity can overcome challenges,” Legasi said.

Kalinga was nominated alongside the provinces of Biliran, Northern Samar, and Bataan for said category.

The province of Bataan ultimately won the award for  its  weekly program, ‘Kwentuhan Tayo, Bataeño!’

Launched by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the Parangal recognizes government offices’ exemplary communication programs and projects, covering communication campaigns, media partnerships, community initiatives, innovative outreach programs, and exemplary government performance.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graced the awarding ceremony where he honored government communicators for their significant contributions to enhancing public awareness and empowering participation in Philippine governance.

“The campaigns, the messages, and the voices we celebrate this evening remind us what leadership is capable of when there is a connection with the people,” the  President Marcos said in his speech. (IOS-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
