SAN JUAN CITY -– The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) with OpenStreetMap Philippines, City of San Juan, Department of Education, biking groups and communities bring together Karaban ng Kasaysayan, HisTOURy sa San Juan on 9 November 2024, Saturday at 7:00 a.m.
Bikers along with students, will trace the Katipunan trail in the historic city starting from Sanctuario del Santo Cristo, Arkong Bato/ Tuberias, El Polvorin, Battle of Pinaglabanan Memorial, St. John the Baptist Church, El Deposito Field and Markers, ending in the tours of the NHCP Museo El Deposito and Museo ng Katipunan which can both be found at the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine.
A short video talk from historian Xiao Chua follows the short program. The event aims to engage Filipino youth in exploring the nation’s rich history, focusing on the struggle for freedom in significant sites in San Juan.
The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history and heritage through research and publication, heraldry, conservation, marking of historic sites and structures, administration of national shrines and museums, and conduct of commemorative programs.
