LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — The Bureau of Fire Protection-Cordillera (BFP-CAR) formally turned-over a new fire truck to the Kiangan Fire Station (FS) in a ceremony held recently at the municipal gymnasium.
BFP-CAR Regional Director Fire Senior Superintendent Robert Pacis led the turn over to the Kiangan FS following the blessing of the unit. The event was witnessed by municipal officials, employees, and members of the local community.
The brand new fire truck worth P14.5 million has a capacity of 1,000 gallons and can discharge 3,000 liters per minute. It is also equipped with sets of firefighting hoses and nozzles, a foam-generating nozzle with alcohol-resistant aqueous film-forming foam, and other firefighting tools and accessories.
“The provision of this unit is part of the BFP’s modernization program. It would be a great help if each municipality has fire truck, not only in Ifugao but across the entire region and country” Pacis said.
Acting Municipal Fire Marshal, Senior Fire Officer 3 Kelvin Monayao, underscored the importance of the new fire truck to their operations, noting the logistical challenges due to Kiangan’s distance from other fire stations in the province.
“This fire truck is a big help to our firefighting efforts especially since our municipality is quite far from other stations. As for its maintenance, rest assured that our personnel have been trained to conduct regular check-ups to ensure it remains fully operational,” Monayao stated. (MBL, PIA CAR, Ifugao)
