KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) – The Koronadal City Information Office, in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – Region 12, recently conducted a training session on social media management for its 27 barangay information officers (BIOs).
The training emphasized the use of digital platforms for effective dissemination of information in their respective localities.
In his message during the event, PIA Regional Director Fryan Abkilan emphasized the significance of a strong commitment to one’s roles and responsibilities as information officers.
“The national government, under the leadership of our dear President Bongbong Marcos, aims to ensure that government programs effectively reach the grassroots level, so we need you to be our multipliers, to be our partners in the dissemination of information,” Abkilan stated.
Oliver Ross Rivera, PIA Sultan Kudarat information center manager, provided valuable insights and strategies for enhancing grassroots information dissemination through social media.
Meanwhile, Romer Olivares, Koronadal City information officer, announced plans to enhance the capabilities of the BIOs.
“To capacitate and empower our BIOs, the first thing we did was to submit a proposed ordinance to provide financial assistance in the operation of our barangay information centers, which could help them,” said Olivares.
He also expressed gratitude to PIA for the agency’s willingness to collaborate with the City Information Office to empower the BIOs.
The event underscored the crucial role of information officers in fostering transparency and connectivity within local communities.
Overall, Abkilan described the activity as a platform for collaboration and growth among BIOs toward the efficient delivery of public information. (CRM – PIA Region 12)
