KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) — The City of Koronadal Water District (CKWD) reaffirmed its commitment to provide concessionaires with safe and clean water for consumption.
CKWD General Manager Benjie G. Espinosa, during the recent episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, assured the public that the district is taking action to address water discoloration, clarifying why it happens.
He said that the presence of manganese and iron, a natural occurrence due to the city’s geographical location, causes water discoloration.
“Koronadal City is located on the valley andun na ‘yung substances such as manganese and iron but we make sure na paglabas ng tubig walang baho, in the event na may discoloration agad nating pina-flushout ‘yung portion na ‘yun to make sure na ‘yung magagamit ng ating customers ay tubig na malinis at puti,” Espinosa explained.

Espinosa also highlighted that CKWD has a 24/7 customer service hotline to address any water-related concerns and improve responsiveness to consumer needs.
He also encouraged the public to visit CKWD’s official Facebook page, which serves as an additional communication channel to ensure transparency and accessibility.
The official said that CKWD remains committed to responding promptly to consumer concerns, particularly those regarding water discoloration, to maintain the safety and quality of its water supply.
Espinosa also reiterated that the CKWD’s water supply is free of contaminants and bacteria, emphasizing that they conduct regular testing to monitor the safety and cleanliness of the water.

“‘Yong water ng City of Koronadal Water District ay pwedeng inumin, the water is potable at saka we are following the guidelines set by the Philippine national standards for drinking water issued by the Department of Health, such as bacteriological testing at saka ‘yong physical and chemical testing, so doon natin malalaman kung may bacteria ‘yong tubig,” Espinosa explained.
