KSU Technology and Innovation Center blessed

TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) – The Kalinga State University (KSU) had its Technology and Innovation Center at its main campus in Bulanao, Tabuk City, blessed on Jan. 22, 2025, during the university’s 32nd Founding Anniversary and 9th Charter Day.

The building will serve as an incubation facility for research and product innovation aimed at supporting startups.

The  two-story building  blessed by Rev. Fr. Romeo Dawaton  is worth P55, 534,000.  It  has innovatorium, five laboratories, instruments room, exhibit hall, social hub area, conference room, and lounge area.

“Ti purpose na ket for incubation for research purposes, and something na inline kadagiti dadduma nga agency like innovative products, sunga agtinnag nga SMEs,” said Eric Paloy, director of the KSU technology and innovation center.

According to Karl Ian Martinez of DOST-Kalinga, this will be a one-stop shop for SMEs, researchers, students, and the faculty who have ideas. With the pool of mentors from KSU and partner agencies, the ideas will be incubated until they become viable  as  start-up.

Meanwhile, KSU also opened its Ladies Dormitory. KSU announced it is now accepting student occupants for a minimal fee.

From Jan. 22 to 24, KSU is celebrating its 32nd Founding Anniversary and 9th Charter Day with the theme, “Celebrating Our Heritage: Igniting Innovation for a Sustainable Future.”. The celebration is filled with a series of academic, cultural, and sports activities.

In her message during the celebration opening, KSU President Dr. Joy Grace Doctor called on KSU students and teachers to recognize the importance of continuous learning, saying that education is a lifelong journey. She encouraged them to maintain community ties, share experiences with others, and uplift future generations.
