GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA) – Mayor Erick G. Canosa of Gingoog City successfully turned over materials and provided installation assistance for the “Kwarto ni Neneng” program.
City Local Government Operations Officer Rey Gilbert Capricho, City Planning Development Office Coordinator Elsa Maquiling, and Engr. Joel Sinatao witnessed the turnover.
“Kwarto ni Neneng” is a national initiative aimed at providing private rooms for homes without bedrooms to offer young girls privacy and protection to promote their personal development and well-being.
Under DILG Memorandum Circular 2024-033, beneficiaries will receive assistance to build safe and secure living spaces.
Thirteen bedroom-less families from barangays Mimbalagon, Santiago, and Lunao benefited from the first phase, with each beneficiary receiving material and installation assistance worth P20,000.
In line with this activity, Mayor Cañosa thanked the DILG for supporting efforts to enhance the safety and security of young girls, keeping them safe from abuse.
Councilors Evelyn Canosa, Bebot Villahermosa, and Rodrigande Miole, along with Youth Affairs Consultant Fatima Grace Guanzon, DILG Administrative Assistant Josephine Ranoco, City Social Welfare and Development Women’s Focal Person Nova Tuto, PNP-Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and Unified Child Protection Desk (UCPD) Officer Joan May Bayabaya, Punong Barangays Junesix Marquez, Joy Aquino, and Jojac Asuncion, and other barangay officials are also supporting the initiative.
