La Trinidad celebrates Bible Week

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — The local government of La Trinidad launched the National Bible Week celebration with a program on Monday, January 27, 2025.

La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda and Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan together with the La Trinidad Evangelical Association of Ministers led the program attended by municipal councilors, employees, other stakeholders, and the public at the municipal grounds.

Salda stressed the importance of the Bible Week celebration which encourages Filipinos to reflect on the importance of God’s Words in their lives. He thanked the officials and employees who continue the practice of sharing bible passages during the flag ceremony every Monday. He also encouraged the reading of the bible daily or regularly to provide inspiration and enlightenment thru the words of God.

“Thank you for reading the bible during our flag raising ceremony every Monday. I hope that people including municipal officials and employees should read their bibles regularly and apply the good messages to their lives,” Salda said.

Rev. Paul Tabon focused his message on the theme of  National Bible Month 2025 celebration which is “God’s Word: Source of HOPE”. The theme is based on Bible passages from Lamentations 3:21-26 and Romans 15:4.

He shared the importance of the message of the bible which he says brings HOPE- Harmony, Obedience, Peace, Empowerment, which are all elements of hope.

“The bible says that Jesus Christ is the Hope of everyone for eternity and this should be the center of the lives of each and every individual,” he said.

Awingan thanked the ministers for sharing the word of the Lord and  for continuously supporting and praying for the municipality.

“We thank you, our religious leaders for your support, guidance and prayers for La Trinidad including its leaders, employees, citizens, the industries and the economy,” Awingan said.

He informed  that La Trinidad was the first LGU to institutionalize the annual celebration of the Bible Week every last week of January thru Municipal Ordinance No. 28-2016.

The ordinance authored by Awingan when he was a councilor, states that the celebration of the Bible Week seeks to introduce the transforming power of God’s words through all means possible like creating activities inculcating awareness and understanding of the importance of the Scriptures in nation-building.

The municipal officials including department heads and reps from the uniformed service conducted bible reading during the program while the religious sector held a prayer for the various sectors of society.

Other activities lined up for the Bible Week celebration  in the municipality include the distribution of bibles to national line agencies in La Trinidad, bible quiz bee and bible drill, bible sharing in barangays and the choir competition set in February. (JDP/RMC-PIA CAR)
