La Trinidad celebrates Coffee Fest on Feb 10 to 16

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) – The municipality of  La Trinidad  invites the public  to  its 8th  Coffee Festival on February 10 to 14, 2025.

The festival will formally open on Monday(Feb.10) with the ribbon cutting of the Coffee Product Promotion and the program proper at 8AM at the municipal grounds.  Expected guests  include  Department of Tourism Cordillera Regional Director Jovita Ganongan, Department of Trade and Industry- CAR Regional Director Atty. Raymond G. Panhon,  and invitees  from the various coffee shops and other coffee stakeholders.

Mayor Romeo Salda said the annual Coffee festival aims to promote La Trinidad as among the best coffee in the province and the Cordillera region. This will also allow  local  farmers and growers to collaborate with various stakeholders in the coffee industry for other support and possible improvements.

The Coffee Festival this year  also aims to innovate while documenting local coffee processing practices in La Trinidad.

“One of the highlights of the Coffee festival this year is the recognition of coffee shops as partners of our coffee growers. In the past, the celebration focused on the producers and growers, and this time we considered the coffee shops who utilize the local coffee produced in the municipality,” Municipal Agriculturist  Nida Organo said.

Various activities  are lined up starting with the Indigenous Coffee Roasting and Brewing Competitions on Feb. 11 and the Coffee- Inspired Pastry Competition and Coffee Art Painting Competition on Feb. 12.

The La Trinidad Coffee Shop Stakeholders Association Inc. (LTCSSA) organized the 2nd Latte Art Throwdown where professional and student baristas may participate on Feb. 13.

There is the  Search for the Coffee Shop of the Year and the Coffee Entrepreneur of the Year  which judging started on Feb. 4.

Other highlights  are the farm tour of various coffee plantations on Feb. 12 and  the Coffee Farmers Day on Feb. 14.

Coffee products will be on display, and free coffee will be served at the venues.

The annual Coffee Festival is supported by Municipal Ordinance No. 5-2017, also known as the La Trinidad Coffee Festival Ordinance, which was passed to support and further improve the coffee industry in the municipality. (JDP/RMC-PIA CAR)
