La Union entrepreneurs highlight innovation, resilience through MSME Bazaar

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – Twenty-eight local food and non-food exhibitors in La Union joined the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Bazaar held in front of the PasaLUbong Center here from July 15–19, 2024.

Organized by the Provincial Government of La Union through its Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit, the activity is aligned with the observance of MSME Development Month and serves as a platform to promote and market local products of the province.

It also highlights the innovative market-based approaches that helped them sell their products.

The participating entrepreneurs put their produce and goods on display for the fair, which ranges from fresh fruits and vegetables to fish, meat, poultry, and ornamental plants.

As she graced the event, Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David underscored how MSMEs played a very significant role in the economic recovery of La Union.

“This only proves that our MSMEs have a special place in our hearts because of their contribution to the local economy. We celebrate their innovation, resilience, and dedication,” Gov. Ortega-David said.

She also recognized them for their innovative ideas, which have generated jobs for other entrepreneurs.

“Thank you so much because, through your proactiveness, you contribute greatly to the identity of La Union that we come to know today,” she added.

Meanwhile, Board Member Henry Balbin, chairperson of the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry, shared some tips as a self-made entrepreneur.

“As the backbone of the community, try new things, just like when you need an investment for you to have a high income, and through various institutions,” Balbin said.

He also thanked the entrepreneurs for supporting the provincial government’s programs and strengthening the partnership between the government, private sector, and MSMEs.

Xavier Mercado of Halo-Halo de Iloko, one of the exhibitors, expressed appreciation to the provincial government for allowing his team to showcase their best products.

“Through this initiative, we assure you we will continue to maintain our dedication and passion for our craft for our community,” Mercado said.

The week-long activity also focuses on engaging the government and the private sector to exchange knowledge on creating a conducive environment to empower MSMEs.

This is to enable them to overcome obstacles, enhance capabilities, and seize growth opportunities in today’s competitive business landscape. (AMB/KJCR/PIA La Union)
