La Union hospital envisions better, people-centered healthcare by 2028
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) — The Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) plans to become an 800-bed regional apex hospital by 2028, known for advanced medical care and patient-centered services.
To make this happen, ITRMC is focusing on service, training, research, and linkages — four areas that will improve the hospital’s care and operations.
These goals were the focus of a three-day leadership workshop called “ITRMC at 80: Strengthening Leadership, Sustaining Transformation,” held from Mar. 4-6, in Bauang, La Union.
Dr. Eduardo Badua III, Medical Center Chief II of ITRMC, said the workshop was not just about training — it was about preparing for a better future.
“As we celebrate 80 years of dedicated service in healthcare, this milestone is not just a reflection of our past achievements but a reminder of our responsibility to shape the future,” he said.
Improving service means providing fast, efficient, and compassionate care.
ITRMC is also working to produce well-trained healthcare workers who can deliver excellent medical services and lead the hospital’s vision of high-quality care.
Research ensures the hospital’s treatments and practices remain effective and up-to-date, while partnerships with other hospitals, government agencies, and private organizations will help ITRMC reach more people and improve its services.
Badua reminded participants that this effort requires action and commitment from everyone.
“We are here to lead a transformational shift and inspire our stakeholders and communities to embrace good governance through the Performance Governance System (PGS),” he said.
PGS is a holistic and collaborative framework for designing, executing, monitoring, and sustaining roadmaps for reform.
The Multi-Sector Governance Council has been a vital partner in this journey, offering guidance and support to keep ITRMC on track.
As ITRMC pushes toward its 2028 goal, its focus on service, training, research, and linkages is expected to create lasting improvements in healthcare and the way it cares for the people it serves. (AMB/CCMT, PIA La Union)
