La Union town hosts 11th Nat’l Performing Arts Festival 2023

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The Philippine Arts and Culture Educators Society (PACES) Inc., with the support of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), the Local Government of Bauang, and the Department of Education (DepEd)-La Union Schools Division Office (LUSDO), conducted the Fun Fiesta sa Pilipinas 2023: The 11th National Performing Arts Festival at the Bauang North Central School (BNCS) Sports Complex in Barangay Central East, Bauang, La Union from November 17-19, 2023.

The event was anchored on the theme: “Kulturang Pilipino Sumasalamin sa Sining ng Bayan, Ipagmalaki mo Kabataang Pinoy, Bilang Yaman at Dangal ng Lahi’t Bansa.”

About 72 secondary schools throughout the country, particularly groups of high school students under the Performing Arts program, participated in the three-day national event.

The Fun Fiesta sa Pilipinas 2023 aims to understand the Philippine arts and culture, to bring out the creativity of the students, and to strengthen and promote Filipino culture.

The categories of the competition include the Dagliang Talumpati, Kundiman, Hiphop, Sabayang Pagbigkas, Folk Dance, Likhang Pinta, Mixed Arts, and One Act Play, among others.

“To all the participating schools who are under the program of culture and arts, from the different schools around the Philippines… maraming salamat po at nagpunta po kayo sa aming munting bayan ng Bauang,” Bauang Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin de Guzman III said.

In addition, the Bauang Municipal Information and Tourism Office (MITO) conveyed their appreciation for the support of agencies for their excellent coordination that led to the successful preparation as the host of the national event.

“Itong three days na national event na naganap dito sa Bauang ay napakahalaga para maipakita rin not just here in La Union, pati na rin sa buong Pilipinas, itong municipality natin [ay kayang mag-host] kasi ang participants po natin ay galing sa ibang regions ng bansa,” Ricardo Navarro, municipal tourism officer of Bauang, said.

Meanwhile, the La Union National High School (LUNHS), one of the participating schools that represented La Union in the event, is grateful to be able to participate in a national affair to showcase their artistic abilities that will serve as an inspiration to the Filipino community, particularly the youth.

The local government of Bauang strongly encourages the participants to extend an invitation to their friends and family to visit the said town that they can thereafter share with their respective constituents, boosting tourism in the town and, more broadly, the province of La Union.
