SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – Around 400 children from various parts of La Union experienced the joy of Christmas as they received stuffed toys and loot bags during the Paskuhan sa Kapitolyo (PSK) 2024 event held at the La Union Provincial Capitol Grounds on Dec. 11.
The meaningful gesture, led by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), ensured that these children felt the magic and generosity of the season.
The stuffed toys were designed to spark joy and create lasting core memories of the event.
Each loot bag was packed with snacks, candies, small toys, and school supplies, offering a delightful mix of fun and practicality to brighten the holiday season for the young recipients.
In her message, Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David emphasized the significance of giving and sharing during the season, highlighting the importance of treating everyone as family members.
“Ang saya ng Pasko ay mas nadarama kapag tayo’y nagbibigay at nagbabahagi ng saya sa bawat isa, lalo na sa ating mga kabataan. Sa simpleng paraan, nadarama nila na sila ay bahagi ng ating pamilya sa La Union,” Ortega-David said.
(The joy of Christmas is more deeply felt when we give and share happiness with one another, especially with our youth. In a simple way, they feel like they are part of our family in La Union.)
The distribution event was particularly touching for the families in attendance, fostering a sense of unity and connection.
Chris Dirk Dahiroc, one of the parents of the child recipients, expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting how it brought joy to their children’s lives during the holidays.
“Simple gifts like these have a big impact on children. We truly feel the government’s care, and the joy on their faces is priceless,” Dahiroc said, reflecting the province’s inclusive and compassionate vision.
Alongside this initiative were other family-friendly attractions, such as the carnival for kids, enchanting holiday displays, and eco-friendly decorations.
The PSK is open daily from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight until December 31, 2024.
This free event invites everyone to come together and celebrate the season’s joy and unity.
This year’s PSK is anticipated to exceed last year’s attendance of 260,719 visitors, reflecting its growing popularity and significance as a community celebration.
By prioritizing giving and community care, the PGLU underscores its commitment to fostering a holiday celebration that transcends festivities — one that builds stronger connections, uplifts spirits, and reminds every one of the true essence of Christmas: love, unity, and generosity.
