CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – Ang mga personnel sa Lapu-lapu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) nahatagan og higayon nga mapalambo ang ilang kapabilidad sa aspeto sa ‘incident management’ pinaagi sa gipahigayon nga 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) niadtong Marso 13 nga gipangulohan sa Lapu-Lapu DRRMO ug Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 7.
Sa maong aktibidad nga naga sentro sa mga ‘functional exercises’ gitudloan sila sa mga sistema ug proseso sa saktong pagdulama sa sitwasyon nga adunay mahitabong linog nga kinahanglan respondehan.
Gitan-aw usab ang kahimtang ug kaandam sa ilang mga pasilidad nga gamiton sa nahisgotang panghitabo.
Lakip na niini ang paghamtang sa ilang ‘Incident Command Post’ ug ‘Emergency Operations Center’ nga kinahanglan naka alerto kanunay nga moabag sa mga nagkinahanglan og tabang sa panahon sa katalagman.
Sa ilang nasinati nga pagbansay-bansay, ang kadagkuan sa Lapu-Lapu City DRRMO misaysay sa importansya sa maong ‘earthquake drill’ nga nihatag nila og oportunidad nga tan-awon kung asa kutog ang ilang abilidad ug mga kahimanan isip usa ka DRRM office.
“It is very important. Very essential in order to identify, identify, to find out what are the shortcomings. Through drills and functional exercises, we can identify what are our the shortcomings, what are the areas that need to be improved, as to our facility or our readiness, our ICS protocols, our EOC, our interoperability with other agencies. So, it was really important for us,” batbat ni Andy Berame, local DRRM officer IV, Lapu-Lapu City DRRMO.

“We can say that it is already there because our systems are already embedded. What we need to do is to react in the actual scenario, in a realistic scenario, so that our learnings and realizations can be transferred into actual performance,” si Berame midugang.

“Given the time element, and we just see there is a lot of information on how to react to the situation. So, we considered it as valuable training. Through this functional exercise, we were able to measure our resources and capabilities as disaster responders and test if we can actually transfer the knowledge and skills into real-life situations,” pagpahinapos sa opisyal sa Lapu-Lapu City DRRMO.
Sa eksaktong alas 3 sa hapon gisugdan ang maong aktibidad pinaagi sa pagpatingog sa sirene nga gipangulohan sa OCD ug mga member agencies sa Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) 7.
Ang 1st Quarter NSED nahitabo didto sa DRRM office sa Lapu-lapu City, gitambungan usab sa ubang mga member agencies sa RDRRMC, nga maoy nag assess sa performance sa Lapu-lapu DRRMO sa gipahigayon nga NSED.
