QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — A breast cancer survivor was emotional in telling how she survived the disease with the help of the Las Piñas City government’s Green Card program.
The program provides hospitalization support by subsidizing P30,000 of the total bill of a confined patient.
Clara Cruz, a former city hall employee, said she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in 2019 and was operated on at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.
Cruz said she underwent chemotherapy and was able to use her Green Card twice with the approval of Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice-Mayor April Aguilar.
She also expressed deep gratitude for their support, which allowed her to access the Green Card program during her treatment.
“The green card program is an important part of the city’s health subsidy program designed to deliver essential medical benefits to residents,” Mayor Aguilar said.
The green card program was introduced during the administration of the late Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar, and it has been instrumental in improving healthcare accessibility for the city’s residents, Mayor Aguilar said. (JVD/PIA-NCR)
