TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA) — The provincial government here, through its Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), turned over a set of advanced agricultural machinery to 18 farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs) from four municipalities across the province.

The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech)’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization program made this possible.

The province distributed seven types of advanced agricultural machinery, including four-wheeled tractors, rice combine harvesters, recirculating dryers, levee makers, PTO-driven disc plows, and floating tillers. These tools aim to enhance productivity and streamline the rice farming process in the province.

Key attendees at the event included Provincial Vice Gov. Allan Lim and PhilMech Mindanao Cluster Head Engr. Edgar Testa, Edna Jangao, a representative of Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and the Committee Chairman on Agriculture Reinario Bihag, and Lala Sangguniang Bayan Member Vick Salimbangon, along with municipal agriculture officers from Maigo, Kapatagan, Lala, and Sapad.

(Our governor here in the province is always looking for ways to provide the proper support and assistance to our farmers. For our beloved governor, the welfare of our farmers is number one.)

Meanwhile, Testa highlighted the importance of mechanization in responding to the evolving challenges in agriculture.

Tungod sa atong mga balaod karon, nahatagan na gyud ta’g opportunity nga dagko na nga makina tungod kay nagkagamay pud ang availability sa atong laborers, mao nang angayan na matabangan gyud ang mga mag-uuma,” he said.

(Because of our laws now, we have been given the opportunity to acquire bigger machines because the availability of our laborers is also decreasing, which is why it is really important to help the farmers.)

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the support and provided reassurance to the government that they would take good care of the machines, as these tools would significantly boost their productivity and improve their farming practices. (PIO Lanao del Norte/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
