AGREEMENT. In frame Camalig Mayor Caloy Irwin Baldo, Vice Mayor Ding Baldo, Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo and Vice Mayor Ding Baldo signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the sisterhood agreement of the two towns at the sideline of Arangkada Banwa Festival opening ceremony on Feb. 1, 2023.

The towns of Camalig and Daraga are headed by Baldo brothers.

‘’Some suggested calling it brotherhood since we are brothers, but others are against it because it will remove the true meaning and significance of sisterhood agreement which is caring, sharing, loving and helping one another as one,‘’ he added.

Camalig Mayor Carlos ’Caloy’ Irwin Baldo added that ‘’If the two municipalities will help each other, both will benefit particularly in (economic) development of Daraga and Camalig.”

He noted the opportunities between the two towns such as the recent infrastructure developments, specifically the opening of the Bicol International Airport (BIA) and the planned establishment of the South long-haul terminal of the Philippine National Railroad (PNR) will benefit both towns.

‘’We will include strategic road connectivity projects such as construction of access roads and acquisition of right of way sites, establishment of community college at Brgy. Cotmon to accommodate upland barangays, and more coordinated disaster and emergency response,’’Caloy Baldo said.

Camalig Mayor Baldo highlighted that if there are any problems in both towns, they will back up each other to achieve economic development and progress that they dreamed of in their jurisdictions.

‘’Through the sisterhood agreement, the two LGUs believe that the goal for ‘leveled-up’ economy may be sooner achieved through close collaboration, coordination, cooperation in government service delivery, public interest in commerce and trade, agriculture, education, science and technology, disaster management, peace and order, and other local governance areas,’’Caloy Baldo said.(PIA5/Albay/CLM)
