LGU Cotabato, JRTF-ELCAC deliver vital services to formerly conflict-affected communities

Through its “Serbisyong Totoo Caravan,” the provincial government of Cotabato and several national government agencies from the Joint Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (JRTF-ELCAC) Soccsksargen have recently brought relevant services to Barangay San Roque, Kidapawan City in Cotabato Province.

The initiative aimed to provide services to conflict-affected communities, paving the way for community development and stability.

Leonor Dela Torre-Lubon, a resident of Barangay San Roque, described the event as very helpful and impactful to the communities in the area.

“For me, it feels good that Barangay San Roque was chosen to be the location of the Serbisyong Totoo Caravan because many were able to receive good services from the provincial government. I want to thank the different government agencies for their attention and for delivering [to] the people of San Roque the services [they] have been waiting for,” Lubon shared during the caravan on Jan. 23, 2025.

The event provided a variety of essential services to the community, including rice distribution, free medical check-ups and consultation, farm seedlings, and legal consultation, among other support.

To further foster agricultural development in the community, farmers also received farm seedlings.

Cotabato Gov. Emmylou J. Taliño-Mendoza, who expressed her strong support for the initiative, highlighted the importance of community unity and collaboration.

“You have a beautiful community, and the government has acted swiftly especially with the concreting of roads to help transport local products,” she said, urging the residents to unite and continue backing government efforts for progress and peace.

Mendoza emphasized that the event was not just about providing aid but also about uniting people to create stronger and more resilient communities.

The Serbisyong Totoo Caravan in Barangay San Roque was part of a larger ongoing initiative of the local government that brings frontline services to various barangays across Cotabato Province.

The provincial government announced that in the coming weeks, more communities will receive similar support as part of the effort to help rebuild and ensure long-term stability.

With the continued collaboration between local and national government agencies, the future looks promising for the people of Cotabato. (CRM – PIA Region 12)
