DUPAX DEL NORTE, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — The Local Government Unit here has distributed cash assistance to at least 1,913 farmers through the Rice Farmers Assistance Program (RFAP).
Rice farmer Norma Maranon of barangay Ineangan said the RFAP is a big help for them due to the huge losses brought by typhoon ‘Egay’ in their municipality.
“This is a big help in augmenting our financial needs to recover from the onslaught of the typhoon that destroyed our crops,” said rice farmer Manuel Magday of the same barangay.
Mayor Timothy Joseph Cayton said the more than P2.4 million-worth of cash assistance gave P1,300 to each farmer of the municipality.
“Because of our unity with the Sangguniang Bayan members headed by Vice Mayor Victorino Prado, we are able to give the much needed assistance to our farmers to cushion the impact of natural disasters and calamities,” he said.
Cayton said the more than P2.4 million worth of assistance to their farmers came from their Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Fund with the declaration of the province under State of Calamity due to super typhoon ‘Egay’ in August this year.
