LGU San Jose, DOST Mimaropa ink food safety implementation

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Mimaropa regarding the project “Setting the Standards of Food Safety Compliant Food Workstation of Street Food Vendors in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro” on August 1, 2023.

The execution of the said project will ensure the safety and cleanliness of foods being sold by the street vendors in the said municipality. Not only will the project promote safety standards in the working stations or food preparation areas of the vendors, it will also promote health standards that will be beneficial to the consumers. Proper implementation of safety standards that come along with the MOA will safeguard the masses from foodborne diseases.

San Jose Mayor Rey Ladaga led the MOA signing together with DOST Mimaropa Regional Director Dr. Ma. Josefina Abilay.

The signing was witnessed by Provincial Science and Technology Director Maria Ethelwilda Coronacion, Sanitary Inspector Romeo Dimaano; Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Rolando Ladao III and Municipal Accountant Fatima Castronuevo. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA – Oriental Mindoro)
