CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – Two Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) in Isabela have reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 2 for the continued implementation of the ‘Walang Gutom Program’.
The two SLPAs, the Sta. Catalina Sustainable Livelihood Agriculture Cooperative and the Andabuen Achiever Sustainable Livelihood Program Agriculture Cooperative, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with DSWD-2, reinforcing their collaboration in the 2024 WGP.
Both associations have previously benefited from the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program, which provided financial assistance and helped establish livelihood opportunities for their members and the broader community.
Afrisinia Masocol, president of the Sta. Catalina Sustainable Livelihood Agriculture Cooperative, shared her excitement about the partnership, which will surely support the development of their association.
“This is a great opportunity for our group to grow our business. Previously, we were beneficiaries; now, we are partners with DSWD in delivering services to our community,” she said.
The remaining SLPAs will serve as new retailers, providing high-quality, safe, and affordable food and non-food items to the program’s intended beneficiaries.
The Walang Gutom Program is a flagship initiative by DSWD aimed at reducing involuntary hunger among low-income households while empowering them to become productive citizens. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
