Livestock farmers in Lanao Sur grateful for livestock, poultry congress

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Livestock farmers from various municipalities in Lanao del Sur province were thankful to the Provincial Government for conducting the 2nd Livestock and Poultry Congress as part of the activities for the month-long 64th Araw ng Lanao del Sur celebration.

The farmers said the congress was beneficial to them because it increased their knowledge, especially on the proper care and raising of livestock.

“Pumunta ako [dito] para madagdagan yung kaalaman. Pinaka importante yung matulungan yung kababayan. First time ko rin mag participate rito. Malaking tulong ito kasi yung hindi mo alam, malalaman mo rito. Marami kang matututunan,” said Cairoden A. Amito from Tugaya town.

(I came here to increase my knowledge. The most important thing is to help my fellowmen. It’s my first time participating here. This is a big help because what you do not know, you will learn here. You will learn a lot)

Mamaki Borar, a farmer and chairman of Binidayan Abdussalam Agriculture Cooperative, said his biggest takeaway was learning how to take care of livestock. As such, he is happy to participate in the said congress.

He also thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), which previously provided their cooperative with goats and shared tips on how to breed them. He said the goats have multiplied and grown healthy.

“Malaking tulong itong programa lalo na sa mga agriculturist at mga farmers. Maraming-maraming salamat po dito sa programa ng Provincial Government at sa programa ng MAFAR,” Borar said.
