CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — Local businesses here gathered for a session hosted by the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber), where they explored digital transformation strategies aimed at improving efficiency and supporting the city government’s Smart City vision.
The event provided an interactive platform for local enterprises to learn about automation, cloud-based workflows, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven solutions designed to streamline business operations. Experts from Fujifilm Business Innovation Philippines demonstrated how these technologies could optimize workflows, reduce costs, and enhance data security.
Queritess Queja, Oro Chamber executive director, said the event aligns with their mission to support business productivity and competitiveness. “We have been collaborating (with Fujifilm) since December, and hopefully, with this event, our members will allow digital transformation in their businesses as we move forward to a more complex digital world,” she said.
Queja added that Oro Chamber regularly hosts educational forums to help members navigate digital transformation challenges. “That’s why we have a lot of activities like this to expose them to innovation,” she said.
Hideaki Kato, president of Fujifilm, explained that their goal is to help local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) improve efficiency. “The DX (digital transformation) solution is not only for large enterprises. In Cagayan de Oro, 90 percent of the market relies on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and we want to make them more efficient, sufficient, and competitive,” he said. “Fujifilm is committed to sustainable society development.”
Prior to the industry session, a media roundtable discussed digital transformation trends, its challenges, and its importance for local businesses.
Nina Fujita, manager of Fujifilm Asia Pacific’s Solutions Product Management, explained that digital transformation is not just about technology, but shifting business practices to improve agility, competitiveness, and efficiency.
“One objective is to increase efficiency, meaning, we want to reduce the manual tasks, optimize the labor cost, and most importantly, minimize the errors,” she said.
Fujita outlined key trends, including AI, cloud-first solutions that enable remote work, cybersecurity, paperless operations, and digital payments.
She also noted challenges like limited resources, cultural resistance, and integration issues, advising businesses to focus on digitizing processes and aligning transformation with operational goals.
The Oro Chamber will hold another industry session midyear focused on cybersecurity. (APB/PIA-10)
