Local mushroom growers, processors open new mushroom house

ILOILO CITY (PIA) – A new mushroom house expansion project was recently launched in Dumangas town in Iloilo, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture -Western Visayas, Department of Labor and Employment 6, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development.

All the agencies have partnered to advance sustainable farming practices and enhance the community’s standard of living.

As beneficiary, the Dumangas Mushroom Growers and Processors SLP Association held a blessing and launching ceremony for the new facility.

Eden Panisales, in-charge of the mushroom production station of DA-WV, emphasized that this expansion is a direct response to the soaring regional market demand for mushrooms not only in the region but also reaching places as far as Dumaguete City.

The new mushroom house is equipped with a laboratory room, an isolation room, and a fruiting room, allowing them to accommodate up to 12,000 fruiting and spawning bags.

He highlighted the important role of the DA in the association’s ongoing success.

Meanwhile, Rizalyn Loloy, Vice President of the Dumangas Mushroom Growers and Processors SLP Association, expressed gratitude to all the agencies that have contributed to their growth. She assured everyone that the association is committed to significantly improve their productivity and product quality, with the ambition to align with the national level.
