QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Light Rail Management Corporation (LRMC) announced that starting April 2, fare adjustment will be implemented at LRT-1.
LRMC President/CEO Enrico R. Benipayo noted the need for continuous maintenance and upgrades.
“Public transport is a service that requires continuous investment in maintenance, upgrades, and expansion. Countries with world-class transport systems such as Singapore and Japan adjust fares regularly to keep services efficient and safe,” said Benipayo.

He added that the LRMC has introduced new trains, station upgrades, and better service efficiency. In November last year, LRMC also completed Phase 1 of the Cavite Extension Project and opened the extension for commercial operations.
The new minimum fare is P16 and the maximum is P52 for Stored Value Cards (SVCs). Single Journey Tickets (SJTs) will cost P20 to P55.

Based on the decision of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Rail Regulatory Unit (RRU), the LRT-1 boarding fare will be P16.25 with a distance fare of P1.47 per kilometer. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
