QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has vowed to strictly implement policies and regulations, as well as programs and services, to ensure safe, orderly, and efficient public transport throughout the long period of observance of Undas this year.
LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III reassured the public of the agency’s on-ground presence during the occasion, stressing that the LTFRB remains vigilant in safeguarding the rights and safety of every passenger.
“Our team will be on the ground throughout the holiday period to ensure smooth and efficient transportation services,” he said.
As part of the “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos 2024 program for Undas,” which is being spearheaded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the LTFRB joined in conducting an inspection of the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx) on Oct. 31.
The inspection was led by DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista, DOTr Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Ferdinand Jesus Ortega, Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) Assistant Secretary for Road Transport Non-Infra Jose Lim IV, Guadiz, and other transport officials.
The officials, together with Guadiz, boarded the buses and talked to drivers and passengers alike, learning of their concerns and reminding them of safety protocols as they go on their long trips to various provinces.
They also visited a random drug testing table deployed at the PITx, which is intended to ensure the mental and physical preparedness of drivers and conductors and the consequent safety of passengers.
Guadiz said all facilities and people on the ground are ready for a smooth Undas.
“We assure the riding public that our personnel are deployed at PITx and other transport terminals to assist any passenger who may be in need of assistance,” he said.
“We encourage the public to also remain vigilant and report any irregularities to us or to other authorities present in the area,” Guadiz added. (PIA DMD)
