LEGAZPI CITY (PIA) —The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has deployed teams from its law enforcement service to conduct road safety operations in the Bicol region during Holy Week and the summer vacation.
Glenn Mancera, the chief of the LTO Bicol Operations Division, said Wednesday (April 16) that several teams consisting of 121 personnel have been sent to the region’s six provinces in advance of the Lenten season.
Mancera said the move aims to enhance visibility in Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, and Masbate, ensuring that motorists follow traffic laws to prevent accidents during Holy Week and summer vacation when many travelers are on the roads, he added.
The LTO teams will conduct roadside and terminal inspections to verify compliance with safety standards, vehicle registration, and driver licensing requirements, he explained.
Additionally, part of their operations involves safety audits for Public Utility Vehicles, he added.
Mancera also said that the teams will closely monitor colorum operations to prevent unregistered vehicles and unauthorized operators from exploiting the increased travel activity during the summer season.
These operations are being carried out in collaboration with other government agencies, including the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. (PIA Bicol)
