SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 1 announced that license plates for more than 35,000 vehicles have been released and can now be claimed from their respective dealers.
This was shared by LTO-1 Director Glorioso Daniel Z. Martinez during the “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas” press conference hosted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 1 on June 4.
He said that a total of 35,294 license plates for motorcycles and 64 license plates for motor vehicles can now be claimed.
“All license plates backlogs in Region 1 have been addressed. All end users who purchased their vehicles [last year] can now head to their dealers to secure their license plates,” Martinez said.
In addition, Martinez says that concerned motorists can now log in to their online portal at www.ltoportal.ph to check the status of their license plates, easing the process of securing their license plates after registering with the agency.
A total of 85,405 backlogs in driver’s licenses have also been printed and ready for distribution, according to Martinez.
The figure is 32 percent of the total 266,468 backlogs that the LTO 1 has in their system as of May 31, 2024.
Martinez notes that the driver’s license backlog is attributed to a procurement problem the agency encountered but has since been resolved.
“We had an issue with the releasing of driver’s licenses in the past few years because of a procurement problem that we have since fixed. Our license cards are now sufficient,” Martinez said in closing. (JCR/MJTAB/ CCMT, PIA La Union)
