DAVAO CITY, December 5 (PIA) — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will open eight extension offices in different towns in Davao Region next year.
During the Media Conference in Apo View Hotel, Davao City on December 5, Yuri Lim, head of the regional law enforcement section of LTO XI, disclosed that the extension offices will be located in Bansalan and Sta Cruz for Davao del Sur, Calinan and Bunawan-Lasang area for Davao City, Pantukan and Compostela for Davao de Oro, and San Isidro and Caraga for Davao Oriental.
“The opening of the said offices will decongest the existing district offices,” Lim emphasized.
The road safety officer said that the basis for the location of the new extension offices is more on the distance between the existing district and extension offices.
To date, there are nine district offices and four mall-based offices of LTO XI spread throughout the region.
“Compared to mall-based offices that are only limited to renewal of driver’s license and issuing of student permit, this newly created (extension) offices are full blown offices that will cater student permit applicants, renewal of driver’s licenses, renewal of registration, application of driver’s license (among others),” he said.
Lim added that as of now, they already coordinated with the mayors of the said towns and the extension offices can be placed in the existing buildings of the local government units.

“The personnel will come from the district offices; the office will also hire new ones; and hopefully, the local government units can also provide manpower complement,” he said.
