DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region XI has beefed up its “Operation Plan (OPLAN) Byaheng Ayos,” a road safety campaign to ensure the safety, convenience, and comfort of travelers during the holiday seasons.
The LTO XI team, for instance, has recently conducted intensified inspections at the Southern Mindanao Van Terminal in Davao City, as part of the “Stop the Road Crash” initiative.
Seven passenger vans were thoroughly inspected, focusing on compliance with road safety standards and LTO laws, rules, and regulations.
The Regional Law Enforcement Section (RLES) also conducts roadside inspections.
The LTO XI said that the efforts aimed to safeguard the commuting public while fostering accountability among public utility vehicle operators and drivers, particularly those in the Van UV Express sector.
Newly-assumed LTO XI regional director Atty. Ernesto Raphael V. Robillo has assured the unwavering commitment of the agency’s Regional Law Enforcement Team, District Heads, and including the deputized Philippine National Police personnel to ensuring road safety during the holidays and beyond.
The public utility drivers and vehicle owners are urged to prioritize passenger safety by adhering to LTO-mandated guidelines, as the LTO XI underscored road safety as a shared responsibility.
Through its social media post, LTO XI also constantly reminds motorists to always follow rules to avoid any untoward accident on the road, such as no texting while driving, do not drink and drive, always wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle, and always wear a seatbelt.
The reminder also includes to always check BLOWBAGETS (battery, lights, oil, water, brake, air, gas, engine, tire, and self). (CLC/PIA Davao/LTO XI)
