CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) — Employees from the local and national agencies with government uniformed personnel flocked to the blood-letting activity on February 20 that concluded this year’s Kalinga Day and Bodong Festival celebrations.
Dubbed “LUMIN-AWA Blood Donation Drive,” it was spearheaded by Governor James S. Edduba who was celebrating his 58th birthday. It also marked the 16th anniversary of his blood donation drive.
The provincial government reported that a total of 170 blood units were collected from the activity, and are now stored at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital Laboratory, City Health Laboratory, and Philippine Red Cross -Kalinga Chapter.

The Governor’s advocacy for voluntary blood donation started in 2008 stemming from his experience with a nephew who was in dire need of blood due to dengue. He since celebrates his birthday with blood letting activity to supplement blood supply in the province.
Blood donation saves lives of others while benefitting the donors in their emotional and physical health, he said.
Meanwhile, the Governor extended appreciation and acknowledgement to all who contributed to the success of the province’s 28th founding anniversary and 4th Bodong Festival from Feb. 6 to 20, 2023. He highlighted the extraordinary performance of the yKalingas in the Guinness Largest Gong Ensemble and Largest Pot Dance the province recorded amid the rains.
Without your valued support we would have not reached our aims in this celebration, he said.
‘Let the title and pride we gained as a province in this celebration be our heritage to the next generation that they, too, would march for LUMIN-AWA Kalinga,’ Edduba said. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga) Photos by Kalinga PLGU
