SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Jan. 30 in Luna, La Union, marking the start of construction for the new Luna Police Station—a significant milestone in the municipality’s commitment to enhancing public safety and security.

The event was led by Police Regional Office 1 Director PBGen. Lou Evangelista, La Union Police Provincial Office, and Luna Police Station, in partnership with the local government of Luna.

Various stakeholders, including representatives from government agencies and the private sector, expressed their strong support for the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s programs aimed at improving law enforcement services.

Funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2025, the project has an approved budget of P9,981,056.26, underscoring the national government’s investment in public safety infrastructure.

The new facility is set for completion in December 2025 and is designed to provide a more comfortable, secure, and modern workplace for the Luna police, enabling them to respond more efficiently to crime prevention, emergency situations, and community concerns.

With upgraded equipment and better working conditions, police officers will be able to serve the public with increased effectiveness and professionalism.

Strengthening community partnerships for safer future

During the ceremony, Mayor Gary Pinzon emphasized the importance of a well-equipped police force in maintaining peace and order.

“This project is not just about constructing a building; it is about ensuring that our police officers have the necessary tools and facilities to protect and serve our community efficiently,” he stated.

The local government, as the donor of the lot, also vowed to continue supporting the police, reinforcing its commitment to public safety and security.

Meanwhile, Police Major Antonio Dasalla, chief of police of Luna Police Station, expressed his gratitude to the local government and stakeholders for their unwavering support.

“This new home for Luna Police is a testament to the strong partnership between law enforcement, the government, and the community in creating a safer environment for everyone,” he said.

A testament to the government’s commitment

The construction of the new police station is a manifestation of the government’s dedication to providing quality public service and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.

More than just a physical structure, this project symbolizes the shared vision of the government, law enforcement agencies, and the community to work together in building a safer, more secure future for Luna town.

As construction begins, the local government and stakeholders remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen law enforcement capabilities, foster public trust, and enhance community safety.
