Major infra projects bared in MisOcc 2nd quarter meeting

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) — Gov. Henry S. Oaminal’s administration has initiated a comprehensive Transformation Program Plan to uplift communities across Misamis Occidental through strategic infrastructure projects.

At the 2nd Quarter CY 2024 joint Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), and Misamis Occidental Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MOPADAC) meeting on June 25, key initiatives were presented. These included the construction of a 3.63 km road in Barangay San Pedro, valued at P80 million, and the construction of the 30-meter Pit-os Bridge, valued at P30 million, which will address the high poverty incidence and improve access for its 194 residents.

“During my tenure, Misamis Occidental has witnessed substantial advancements in infrastructure, agriculture, education, tourism, sports, healthcare, employment, the economy, and labor services. The Asenso administration is committed to the objective of elevating at least 90 percent of Misamisnons above the poverty line,’’ he shared.

Similarly, the 3.29 km farm-to-market road in Barangay Nayon, Concepcion, costing P65.8 million, will enhance the lives of its 997 residents by facilitating better transportation for agricultural products.

The P200 million investment in the Mitugas-Gala Road and bridge in Tudela will benefit 1,169 constituents, reducing poverty in this GIDA and conflict-affected area. Concreting the Poblacion-Virayan-Bagong Nayon Road in Concepcion for P80 million and the Virayan-Pugan Road for P50 million will improve access to government services for 2,223 residents, significantly reducing the current 68 percent poverty rate.

The P70 million project for the Barangay Siloy to Singalat Road in Calamba will provide easier access for thousands of residents to market their agricultural produce. The P70 million Binuangan to Senote Road in Oroquieta City will facilitate service delivery to 1,989 beneficiaries. Additionally, concreting roads from Barangay Mialem to Barangay Carmen and Seti in Jimenez will cost P100 million, boosting local connectivity.

The P15 million water system in Barangay Dapacan Alto, Calamba, will ensure clean and safe water for its 1,068 residents, improving hygiene and quality of life. A P5 million telecommunication tower in Barangay Sebucal, Oroquieta City, will enhance connectivity for 2,149 residents across five barangays, fostering economic growth and better emergency response.

The P13 million investment in additional classrooms and manpower at Dalingap Elementary School supports its conversion into an integrated school, addressing the educational needs of former rebels and youth. Small business development assistance for 112 former rebels includes support for rice trading, gasoline retailing, and agrivet supply distribution, which empowers them economically.

Setting up a space that can be used for many things and connecting markets will help with fair prices and economic independence by cutting out middlemen, allowing direct market access, and encouraging collective bargaining.
