Malabon City offers ‘Libreng Burol’ to ease burden of grieving families

MANILA, (PIA) — The Malabon City government has launched a program to provide free use of a chapel for the wakes of deceased Malabueños, aiming to ease the burden on grieving families.

The “Libreng Burol” (free wake) program allows residents to hold the wake of their loved ones at the chapel behind the city’s multi-purpose hall along Sangciangco Street in Barangay Catmon.

We feel the heavy burden that families bear when they lose a loved one. There are many concerns that accompany their grief. That’s why we’ve launched this Libreng Burol program to help alleviate their worries as they remember their beloved,” said Mayor Jeannie.

The mayor reminded Malabueños to coordinate with the city government if they are in need, especially when it comes to the proper burial of their loved ones.

Residents can visit the Barangay Catmon Super Health Center from Mondays to Fridays (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to fill out a Chapel Reservation Slip and apply for the program. Once approved, the family will be advised of the available schedule for the chapel. Malabueños may call or send a message to the Catmon Super Health Center (8-3532079) and the City Health Department (8-2814999 loc.1801) to check their schedules and get more information about the program.

The city government aims to ease the burden of our citizens, especially those who have lost their loved ones. Through this program, we will ensure that the wakes of your beloved are properly facilitated, and we will provide support until the burial and remembrance of their departed family,” said City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete.

In July, Mayor Jeannie also launched the Malabon Ahon Blue Card Burial and Hospitalization Assistance Program, which provides a P5,000 cash assistance to families for their medical expenses and burial concerns.

The “Libreng Burol” program is part of the city government’s efforts to support its residents during their time of bereavement, ensuring that they can focus on grieving and remembering their loved ones without the additional burden of finding a suitable venue for the wake. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
