Malabon City receives praise for transparent, efficient use of public funds

MANILA, (PIA) — The local government of Malabon City has been recognized for its effective and transparent usage of public funds, receiving a “qualified opinion” from the Commission on Audit (COA) in its 2023 Annual Audit Report.

Under the leadership of Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, the city has implemented various programs and initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and accountability to residents.

This is a testament to the continued honest service of the city government, under the leadership of Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, for our beloved Malabueños,” said City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete.

One of the flagship programs is the Malabon Ahon Blue Card (MABC), which has distributed 83,891 cards to heads of families as of May 2023. The MABC program ensures efficient delivery of assistance, with over 77,000 card holders already claiming their 2024 financial aid.

Additionally, the city government has relocated 516 families living near waterways to the new in-city housing project, St. Gregory Homes, providing them with quality and safe homes.

Malabon City has received various recognitions for its effective governance, including being named a top performing mayor in the National Capital Region and receiving the Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of the Interior and Local Government in 2023.

The city was also hailed as the 13th eBOSS-compliant local government unit by the Anti-Red Tape Authority, reflecting its efforts to create and implement programs that make services more accessible and transparent to residents.

We will ensure the proper, orderly, and honest management of the city government’s funds allocated for our residents. You can count on us to continue and further improve the development of programs that will help improve the lives of every Malabueño,” Rosete added. (PIA-NCR)
