Malabon launches first mobile laundry service

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Malabon City has made history with the launch of its Mobile Laundry Service on Wheels, a first in the country, bringing comfort and cleanliness to the community.

Local mothers expressed relief as this innovative service transformed their laundry routines.

The mobile laundry was inaugurated at the Barangay Catmon Evacuation Center as part of the “Walang Tulugan Serbisyo Caravan,” a local government initiative designed for post-disaster support, especially during unpredictable weather.

In an interview with PIA-NCR, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said, “We decided to create a mobile laundry service so that during disasters, we can bring it to evacuation centers and provide access for our residents to do their laundry and have clean clothes.”

This initiative arose from an understanding of the vital role hygiene plays in maintaining health during crises.

Sandoval added that donations of clothing often leave people without personal items, and the mobile laundry helps ease their concerns about hygiene.

The Mobile Laundry is a fully equipped truck featuring three industrial washers and dryers capable of cleaning hundreds of garments daily, serving an entire community within hours.

Beyond washing clothes, this service aims to alleviate stress and restore a sense of normalcy.

Since its launch, it has already made a significant impact in Barangay Catmon, and eventually the entire Malabon, reminding Malabueños that small acts of kindness can have a profound effect on rebuilding lives and restoring humanity within the community. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
