MANILA, (PIA) — The Malabon city government has launched a new “Health Services on Wheels” program to enhance the delivery of medical services for residents affected by recent flooding in the area.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the blessing and deployment of the new mobile medical clinic, which features equipment for X-rays and ultrasounds to help identify various health issues, check on pregnant women and their babies, and address other medical concerns.

This Health Services on Wheels is a big help because it will allow us to provide medical services more quickly to those in need, especially as we recover from the effects of the floods and typhoon,” Sandoval said.

The mobile clinic was first deployed on Friday as part of the city’s “Walang Tulugan, Serbisyo Caravan,” which brings government services directly to residents impacted by the floods caused by monsoon rains and Typhoon Carina.

As of August 1, the caravan has served 8,182 Malabon residents, including 1,847 who received medical, dental, nutrition, and other health services. An additional 90 people received legal and civil registry assistance, and 4,542 were provided with hot meals.

The city’s environment office has also collected 424 sacks of garbage from 10 schools during cleanup drives, and the local government’s free transportation service has served 1,500 residents.

These recent floods have greatly affected many residents, not just in Malabon but across Metro Manila and nearby provinces,” said City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete. “That’s why we launched the Health Services on Wheels, along with medical missions, to ensure the safety and health of the Malabon community as we recover from this disaster together.” (JMP/PIA-NCR)
